Resident urges community panel and student input for business official hire

"This community has spent a year begging for input and begging for transparency, and we're not going to have a community panel to hire the next school business official," Marlette said, urging the board to reconsider and to allow community members and students to participate in hiring panels. She said community members are willing to serve and students—citing her own experience—can provide meaningful input on finalist interviews.
Board members acknowledged the comment and thanked Marlette; the transcript records no commitment to change the hiring panel structure during the meeting. Administration had said earlier that finalists for the business official position will be presented to the board in an evening meeting and that stakeholder group interviews were part of the selection process.
