Commission hears routine operations updates: leak repairs, intake inspection, lighting work and SCADA upgrades

Department heads gave routine operations updates that covered recent repairs, inspections and ongoing capital work.
Todd said crews isolated and repaired a small water leak on Third Avenue Northeast and have been busy with snow removal and inventory preparations. He reported the Business Highway 2 lighting contractor installed foundation screw anchors, pulled wire and that the project is awaiting pole delivery, currently scheduled for February. Todd said pay request No. 1 for the lighting work was submitted and that the project is roughly 46% complete.
Brian said the commission collected required bacteriological samples, TOC/alkalinity, quarterly fluoride tests and first‑quarter disinfection‑byproduct samples and is awaiting results. He told the commission that Midco Diving inspected river intakes on Jan. 9 and "the good news is they're in very good condition, no evidence of zebra mussels or or anything of that sort," and that no zebra mussels were found during that inspection.
Brian also said staff are completing the Tier 2 hazardous chemical inventory report for the state of Minnesota public safety office and that IPS (Integrated Process Solutions) will be on site for SCADA calibrations and upgrades later in the week. Jordan added that energy rebate work continues, with 12 residential rebates totaling just over $1,800 and a closing rebate for American Crystal related to 2024 lighting work.
No substantive policy actions were taken on these items; the reports were provided for the commission’s information and to identify follow‑up items for staff.
