Marion County Court approves multiple fund transfers, boundary change and towing contract

The Marion County Court on April 14 approved a set of ordinances that included several fund transfers, revisions to fire and emergency medical service boundaries, and a county contract for towing services.
The court adopted Ordinance 2026-14 to transfer unappropriated tribal-planning funds to cover an unforeseen heating expense. Members discussed whether alternative funding (the county building improvement fund) could be used but were told the tribal fund was the appropriate source for the unforeseen cost. The ordinance was approved on voice vote.
The court amended and approved Ordinance 2026-15 to transfer funds from the tribal account to county general for upgrades to the emergency management system; the amount presented at the meeting ($35,711.36) was higher than the figure printed in the agenda, and a member moved to amend the agenda to reflect the revised total before the court voted to approve the transfer.
Justices also adopted an ordinance to revise Marion County’s fire and EMS service-area divisions after being told county fire chiefs had reviewed and approved the changes. The court’s stated purpose for the boundary adjustments was to align dispatch and response districts with road access so that units serving an area with the only access route would be the assigned responders.
Ordinance 2026-13, a transfer into the general fund to cover air-conditioning and roof replacement work and related vehicle installation needs, was likewise approved on voice vote.
The court authorized Ordinance 2026-18, a contract with Woods Wrecker Service (a 60/40 towing contract), and members moved to correct a vendor name spelling and a listed individual’s last name before adopting the contract as amended.
All items noted above were disposed of by voice vote during the meeting; amendments were made on the floor to reflect updated dollar amounts and to correct typographical errors in vendor and personal names.
