During the general public-comment period, Adam Reed of Fruitland Avenue described ongoing problems with the Fruitland Avenue project: he said contractors have left the site, equipment and material are gone and the road remains in poor condition with deep potholes that pose safety and vehicle-damage risks. Reed requested the city follow up, suggested pursuing contractor bond claims for damage, and asked the city to consider traffic restrictions while repairs are pending.
Other public commenters pressed the council for public records relating to expenditures on remodeling at the police department under a former chief, saying they had submitted a records request in June 2024 and had not yet received full documents as of January 2025. Commenters also reiterated concerns about a newspaper quote attributed to the newly appointed chief regarding cooperation with immigration enforcement.
City staff acknowledged receipt of public concerns and the city manager said staff would follow up with those who raised the issues.
