West Feliciana board approves multiple construction and equipment bids, including Richwood turf

The West Feliciana Parish School Board approved a slate of construction and equipment contracts at its April meeting, awarding low bids for new and replacement projects across the district.
Procurement staff presented multiple low bids and the board approved each by voice vote. Key awards included Bid 15-26 for the East Ouachita Middle School multipurpose building to Ground Stone Construction for $2,064,000 (the project’s budget was $2.5 million). The board also approved Bid 27-26, Richwood High School’s football-turf replacement, to GEO Surfaces for $972,500; Mr. Peters clarified the funding mix, saying the East Side bond will cover the shock pad ($82,000) while M&O funds will cover turf installation and materials.
Other approved bids included Bid 31-26 (Swartz Lower window replacement) to Brock Murphy Construction for $315,000; Bid 35-26 (West Monroe High School Rig Street parking addition) to Amethyst Construction for $912,896.25 (projected to add roughly 160 parking spaces); Bid 36-26 (Linwood Elementary bathroom renovations) to Ron Watson Construction for $412,000; Bid 37-26 (West Ouachita High School media-room furnishings) to B&H Photo and Electronics for $116,859.81 (funded through the Louisiana Department of Treasury legislative allocation); and Bid 38-26 (band instruments) to Sweetwater ($56,809.58) and Music & Arts ($2,444.96) for West Monroe High School under a legislative allocation from Senator Morris.
Mr. Peters noted one bid (East Ouachita multipurpose building) came in under budget, and he answered board questions about budgets and bid openings. The board also approved permission to rebid the Old Bark School property on Highway 139 (this will be the third time placed for sale) and granted permission to issue an RFP for professional services to address damage from winter storm Fern, with the purchases anticipated to be reimbursable through FEMA.
All motions to accept bids and grant permissions carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded in the meeting minutes.
