Shannon Welsh, a resident of Clarksburg and candidate for the House of Delegates, District 70, addressed the council during the public‑comment portion of the April 16 meeting.
Welsh said she has spent weeks knocking on doors and that residents consistently asked for safer streets, better infrastructure and more responsiveness from local government. She described herself as someone who wants to be a bridge between residents and the council and said she is committed to working collaboratively: "I want to be that bridge in between people. I’m committed to standing up for Clarksburg residents, but just as importantly, I’m committed to working with this council and not against it to make it a meaningful process."
Welsh asked residents to support her May 12 campaign for District 70. No council response or action followed her public comment.
