Homewood council approves routine appointments, surplus ordinance and emergency payments in 5–0 votes

At its April 13 meeting the council unanimously approved the appointment of Leah Williams Hooker to the Beautification Board, passed Ordinance 2975 declaring miscellaneous city property surplus, and adopted resolutions 2634, 2635 and 2636 covering a landscaping permit, emergency voucher approvals and a neighborhood block party.
The Homewood City Council approved a series of routine actions on April 13, voting unanimously on an appointment, an ordinance and three resolutions.
Councilor Lane moved to appoint Leah Williams Hooker to the Beautification Board; Councilor Simmons seconded and the appointment passed 5–0. The council approved Request 12326 to permit a landscaping bed in the right-of-way adjacent to 3200 Whitwell Road; that motion carried 5–0 and is recorded as Resolution 2634.
On a separate item, councilors agreed to declare various city personal property surplus by unanimous vote; the measure was assigned Ordinance 2975. Councilmembers also approved, by 5–0 votes, a resolution (2635) to permit a short list of emergency voucher payments pending staff review and a resolution (2636) approving the Hollywood Garden Club block party on April 18.
Several items were carried over for future consideration: an earlier ordinance first reading regarding surplus property was held for completion on April 27 and a public hearing on declaring property at 2011 Dale Avenue a public nuisance was set for April 27.
Motions and seconds were recorded in the meeting minutes for each approval. No council member registered a dissenting vote on any of the recorded actions.
