During consent discussion commissioners confirmed public comments had been filed for several consent items and verified which items were being pulled. A caller identified as Webster said they intended to comment but had missed the non‑agenda comment period and would instead send written comments via email.
Following the consent votes commissioners spent time discussing ways to reduce missed remote public comments, citing technical lag and remote participants raising hands too late. Suggestions included displaying instructions on the meeting screen, repeating the public‑comment process at the start of the meeting, and pausing briefly to accommodate remote hand raises. Staff said they would explore on‑screen guidance and other meeting housekeeping measures.
Planner Steven Santos also announced a tsunami hazards workshop at the next planning commission meeting (May 7, 2026) with representatives from the California Geological Survey and NOAA expected to present.
