Committee hears Gateway event wrap-up and west-side sculpture placement update

Members of the Farmers Branch Arts and Culture Committee heard a series of subcommittee updates including a festivals wrap-up, event logistics, and a public-art installation update.
A festivals subcommittee member said the group met with Ashley to refine programming for Branch Arts Live and will return with answers and recommendations at the next meeting. The events subcommittee reported on Gateway to the Globe, which "was successful and well received" though attendance was "down slightly from the prior year," a shortfall committee members attributed mainly to early inclement weather. The events representative said vendors at the far end of the meadow were lightly attended and recommended repositioning booths closer to the main activity next season to improve foot traffic.
Planning for Gateway 2027 is already underway; committee members said the subcommittee will compile wrap-up findings and propose a date that will need approval from Robert in staff. Members discussed whether to place final date selection on a future agenda or allow the subcommittee to proceed and secure Robert's sign-off.
On public art, a committee member asked for an update on the west-side sculpture placement project. Staff confirmed placement locations exist, relayed that an installation is likely in May with substantial work expected during the summer, and recommended planning promotion and artist recognition around completed installations so the public knows when pieces are in place. The committee agreed to add a placement update to a future agenda for follow-up.
