Committee approves mental‑health contracts and MOU to coordinate services for people experiencing homelessness

Saratoga County’s Law & Finance Committee on April 15 approved a set of Health & Human Services items aimed at improving behavioral‑health service delivery and facility operations.
The committee approved a one‑year renewal with Aaron Security Inc. (DBA Arrow Security) for guard services at the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, not to exceed $93,396. County staff said the renewal is budget‑neutral because funds are included in the department’s 2026 budget. The committee also accepted a $1,000 Youth Program Refresh and Revitalization Project grant from the Saratoga County Citizens Committee for Mental Health to update therapeutic space for Youth and Family Services.
County staff presented a memorandum of understanding with Shelters of Saratoga Inc. to coordinate mental‑health resources for people experiencing homelessness. The MOU intends to improve access to behavioral‑health and addiction services, reduce crisis‑utilization, and improve outcomes for individuals served by Shelters of Saratoga, the presenter said. The committee also authorized an agreement with Jacqueline Haslinger for nurse‑practitioner services up to 14 hours per week at $110 per hour to provide psychiatric assessments, psychotherapy, and medication prescribing and monitoring.
Proclamations for May 2026 as Mental Health Month and as Older Americans Month were also noted. The slate of Health & Human Services items was approved by voice vote.
