Cascade School Board appoints Patty Taylor to fill vacant seat

The Cascade School District Board of Education on April 2 appointed Patty Taylor to fill the vacancy in board position number two and administered the oath of office.

Board Chair opened the discussion by noting two candidates had applied to fill the seat vacated by John Remmers. After deliberation the board moved and seconded a resolution "to appoint Patty Taylor to the board member vacancy in position number two to complete John Remmers' current term that expires June 30th, 2027." The motion was carried by voice vote after members signified their approval.

Taylor was sworn in at the meeting and recited the oath: "I, Patty Taylor, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Oregon, and the laws thereof, and the policies of the Cascade School District. During my term, I will faithfully and impartially discharge the responsibilities of the office of Board of Education school board member to the best of my ability." Following the oath she thanked the board.

The appointment was presented as a resolution during agenda item 2A. No amendments were made and the board did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript; the motion carried by voice vote. The board also approved the March 9, 2026 executive session and regular meeting minutes by voice vote earlier in the meeting.

The board scheduled its next major item as the district budget meeting in May, at which the full budget committee will review proposed 2026–27 allocations and any follow-up questions from trustees.
