Council liaison urges community input on car-show changes and explains temporary water chlorination

On the car-show, Troy said the History Cruisers — the volunteer car club that organizes the event — is changing the schedule to every other Friday and that the club’s public statement suggested concerns about volunteer strain and local politics. He encouraged residents who want clarity to appear at the City Council meeting on Jan. 20, noting the council’s role in public‑safety oversight and the city’s support role for logistics such as street closures and police presence.
Troy also addressed the recent decision to chlorinate the community’s water supply temporarily. He said North St. Paul is one of a small number of cities its size that historically has not chlorinated because it uses a closed well system. After a recent water‑main repair, state officials recommended temporary chlorination as a precaution; Troy said current chlorine levels are well below state maximums and staff expect to remove chlorine once tests confirm the system is clear.
Troy asked commissioners to help publicize volunteer opportunities with event organizers and to encourage respectful interaction with volunteers at community events.
