Springfield updates residents on paving, pump-station work and grant pursuit

During administrative reports, township staff updated the committee on several ongoing public-works items and community programs.
Staff reported that PSCG paving work is finished on multiple streets and that final striping and crosswalk work is being applied. Vegetated-waste curbside pickup ends April 30 with a final canvass on May 1; residents may use the recycling center at 44 Marson Road for drop-offs.
The township said both the Marina and Johanna Way pumping-station upgrades are underway, equipment is on site, and the installations will include alarm notifications to DPW staff. Staff also said they will apply for a new Union County capital grant program (the county announced $6 million split among 21 towns for projects over $100,000).
Committee members also discussed park maintenance and an increase in incidents of dog waste left curbside and in parks and asked staff to increase enforcement messaging and targeted enforcement in problem areas. The township's forester will be available at the Arbor Day event to answer tree-related questions.
