School board approves agenda, recognizes outstanding students

The Crawford Co. R-II School Board called its regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and approved the agenda by voice vote after a motion by board member Caitlyn Mace and a second from Roger Bridgemond; the chair recorded six votes in favor and one member absent.

The meeting then moved to an awards recognition segment honoring outstanding students. The presiding chair introduced the recognition portion as an ‘‘exciting part’’ of the meeting and named elementary honorees including Mina Leonard (kindergarten), Macy Brashier (first grade), Ellen Reyes, Paxton Carrian and Kaylee Charlotte; students were invited to stand for photographs and received praise from the board.

Middle school recipients named by the chair included Elijah Shores (fifth grade), Zane Kramer (sixth grade), Allison Williams (seventh grade) and Aiden Babe. High school recognitions followed; the chair noted that Mr. Clutch was not present and named honorees including Natalie Clene, Kinder Humphrey and Scott Rainey.

Before and during the awards segment, the chair reminded attendees that the board planned to take a brief recess after the recognition portion and offered those who wished to leave the opportunity to do so. At the close of the segment the chair thanked students, faculty, staff and parents and reminded the community about summer school sign-ups.

The board also announced it will review board norms numbers nine and ten at a future meeting and reiterated its mission focus on professional development to support student success. No further formal actions or votes were recorded in the transcript beyond the agenda approval; the chair adjourned the public portion of the meeting for the awards segment and a recess.
