Volunteers reported that opening night involved a propane incident in which a portable propane fire was quickly contained by first responders; no injuries were reported and staff recommended adding fire extinguishers in amphitheater side rooms for future events. One display was damaged by a vehicle not affiliated with event staff and volunteers said they planned repairs.
Volunteers described operational lessons learned: new cold-weather guidelines for cancellation or reduced hours, better storage solutions (a shipping container or additional sheds), and fewer staff demands if volunteers lead some functions. They estimated a high-attendance night drew 1,200–1,500 people and said vendors and performers included regional participants.
Council members and Public Services Director Becker praised the volunteers’ work, discussed tracking staff time for event support, and endorsed further discussions about a formal contract and whether surplus funds should be earmarked for the city’s storage needs. Council asked staff to meet with Isanti Together to discuss a revised contract, storage options, and to bring recommendations back to a future council meeting.
