Carmel Clay Schools honors students for perfect ACT and SAT scores and for national competition berths

At its meeting, the Carmel Clay Schools board recognized 10 Carmel High School seniors who achieved perfect ACT composites, one senior with a perfect SAT score, and several teams — CyberHounds, Academic World Quest and Mock Trial — for state titles or national qualifications.
Dana McDonald, director of counseling at Carmel High School, told the Carmel Clay Schools board that it was her “privilege to recognize members of the class of 2026 who achieved a perfect score on the ACT or SAT.” She explained how ACT and SAT scoring work and noted that a 36 ACT composite and a 1600 SAT are exceptionally rare.
McDonald named 10 Carmel High School students who achieved a perfect 36 composite on the ACT either on a single test or via a superscore and invited them to the stage for recognition. She also announced that Jackson Miller earned a perfect 1600 on the SAT.
The board also recognized several school teams. Carrie Anderson, introduced as head coach of the Carmel High School CyberHounds CyberPatriot team, said the program competed nationally and was the state champion for season 18; she noted the program fields 60 members and established its first all-girls team this season. “We are proud to announce that we are the state champions for season 18,” she said.
Alicia Nunn, sponsor of the Academic World Quest team, said the group qualified for nationals in Washington, D.C., and described the competition as a 100-question, current-events and foreign-affairs quiz bowl. A student speaker explained the contest’s format and the team’s upcoming travel plans.
Mr. Sean Curtis introduced the Carmel High School Mock Trial program and described the team’s season, including county and regional competition results and qualification for the national competition in Iowa. Team leaders and seniors were called forward and applauded.
The recognitions were celebratory and largely ceremonial; no board votes or formal policy actions were taken on these items. The board took photos of honorees and continued the meeting with its service-award agenda item.
