Hackettstown honors student activities and staff; board moves into executive session on confidential personnel and discipline matters

At the start of its April 15 meeting the Hackettstown Board of Education heard superintendent recognitions for winter sports and extra-curricular competitive achievements. Presenters James Berringer, Kyle Sosovik and Jessica Swaim shared brief recognitions; Student Representative Jordana Bracuti told the board that Activity Day for students was a success and that a Pep Rally is scheduled for Friday. The board also recognized Amy Cochran for 10 years of service as a board member.
During the public-comment period on any item, parent Fadia Hindi asked about Middle School graduation timing; the minutes record her question but show no board response or formal action on the calendar at that time.
Later in the meeting at 8:09 P.M. the board adopted a resolution to meet in executive session to discuss "matters of personal confidentiality, including but not limited to, staff and/or student discipline matters." The resolution stated that any discussion not requiring confidentiality would be made public when feasible, that the minutes of the executive session would remain confidential while necessary, and that no action would be taken in public following the executive session. The board reconvened and adjourned at 8:21 P.M.
