"My name is Senator Vincent Borja," Borja said as he welcomed attendees and introduced colleagues present for the event. He said the gathering was to recognize graduating seniors for "excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character."
Vice Speaker Tony Atta read the formal certificate of recognition, identifying it by number and sponsor. Atta said the certificate, numbered 366-38COR and introduced by Chairman Borja, is presented to the designated student from each school "for their demonstration of excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character." He noted the certificate bore signatures attesting to the recognition and said it was signed in May 2026 by the speaker and attested by the legislative secretary.
The ceremony proceeded with Borja calling the names of students to be recognized from Harpers Christian Academy, including Meg Ogawa, Ava Robertson, Kai Spence, Cadence Tesalona, Jiho Cha, Kathleen Dale, Hannah Charpis, Mardot Flores, Caleb Kim, Sienna Kim, Yuji Kim and Lila Mercado. Borja then moved on to recognize students from the next school on the program.
The presentation took place on the legislative session floor by request to acknowledge the students' accomplishments in an official setting; no votes or formal policy actions were recorded during the event. The committee continued the recognition sequence after the roll call of students listed by school.
