Council confirms two board appointments and adopts several committee reports

The Honolulu City Council confirmed two nominees and adopted a series of committee reports and routine resolutions during its May 12 session.
Council Member Wire introduced and moved adoption of CR92 2026 and Resolution 26-61 CD1 to confirm Darien Chun to the Board of Water Supply. Chun thanked the council and said he hoped his experience would help the board "make decisions that will keep Aahu affordable for its residents." Irwin Kawatu and a brief in-person register supported the confirmation. The council adopted the committee report and resolution with no objections.
Later the council adopted CR95 2026 and Resolution 26-56 CD1 confirming David Britain to the Zoning Board of Appeals; Brian Gallagher testified on the nominee’s behalf. The minutes record both confirmations as adopted without objections.
Members also adopted a range of other committee actions (CR76, CR83, CR84, CR77, CR78, CR79, CR80, and CR81 among them) — covering planning-commission review, tax-rate referral, budget and capital items, bond authorizations, HART operating and capital budget actions, and transfers for hazard pay and police department needs. Several on-the-floor amendments were made by FD1 hand-carried amendments and were adopted with waivers of the 48‑hour rule where indicated.
The meeting concluded with adoption of gifts and travel approvals and adjourned until May 13, 2026.
