Council members said the appointments balance technical experience and local knowledge: Voss, a finance and procurement professional who has participated in the parks master plan and fundraising conversations, was cited for her project-delivery experience; Khan, a returning resident with community‑project experience, won support for his advocacy for water access and ability to work with neighboring jurisdictions.
Both appointees described a listening-first approach during their interviews. Jonathan Khan raised water access as a priority and suggested modest physical access improvements near Beach Road/Main Street, saying it might be “possible to make some sort of steps or dock or access area for kayaks, paddle boards there.” Nicole Voss emphasized budgeting, stakeholder coordination and linking park investments to safer walking and biking connections.
The council voted by roll call with Council Member Frederick’s absent; Council Members present voted to confirm both appointments. Staff will notify the appointees and finalize seat assignments and term lengths.
