Board approves Indiana online summer-school contract and previews 2026 summer offerings

The School Town of Speedway board voted April 14 to approve an Indiana online summer-school contract with CIESC and received an informational preview of planned 2026 summer offerings.
Dr. Trebley said the district uses the online option for a small number of secondary students — "about five or six" — and cited a per-credit rate in the meeting of "220 a credit." Trustees approved the contract by voice vote (recorded as 5-0).
Administrators also presented preliminary summer-school proposals that mirror prior years: elementary and junior-high remediation in reading and math; specific reading instruction for students in grades two and three who did not pass the I-READ assessment; online secondary-credit options; enrichment and acceleration offerings at all levels; marching band opportunities for grades 9–12; and free community swim lessons for children age five and older at Speedway High School through the parks department. No vote was required for the preliminary program overview.
Officials said staffing and exact offerings will depend on enrollment numbers after kindergarten roundup and other registration events.
