Board readopts K–12 curricular materials for six years, citing teacher-led selection

The School Town of Speedway board on April 14 voted to readopt curricular materials across grade levels for a six-year period.
Administrators recommended continuing with McGraw Hill's "Wonders" for K–6 and StudySync for several intermediate grades; high-school English texts (used in AP courses) and Spanish materials were also included in the readoption. The presenter explained the selection process began months earlier and involved teachers, instructional coaches, principals and parent committee members who reviewed publisher samples and narrowed options.
Trustees asked whether some editions were older; the presenter said in several cases the first edition remains the most updated available and that teachers supplement texts in class. "Every good teacher supplements somewhat in their classroom," the presenter said. A motion to adopt the recommended curricular materials passed unanimously, 5-0.
The readoption secures consistent instructional resources for the next six years and keeps contingency copies available should materials be damaged or exhausted over time.
