Commissioners agreed that changing signal timing can move delay to other approaches, so the commission voted to ask the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) for accident-history data for the ramps and for a formal traffic study that includes signal-timing analysis.
A commissioner moved that staff request crash-history data from ODOT, propose a study to evaluate whether the off-ramp geometry or signal timing can be adjusted (or whether widening is needed), and include signal timing on Cornwell/Czech Hall and intersection timing at Garbrooks. The motion passed on roll call. Staff said they would include signal timing and turning-movement analysis in the study request.
Separately, staff reported utilities remain to be relocated before signal work can proceed at Northwest 10th and West Point (the Kohl’s area). The commission directed the city to perform turning-movement counts and a 10-year crash-history review for NW 10th and West Point to evaluate signalization needs and potential sidewalk repairs.
Commissioners emphasized coordination with ODOT because some ramp geometry and crash data are managed at the state level; staff agreed to request ODOT data and report back with recommended next steps.
