The San Bernardino Parks & Recreation Commission elected Trayvon as chair and Andrina as vice chair during its April meeting, and tabled a proposal to change meeting length to allow further review.
Nominations opened during the meeting’s action-items agenda. An outgoing presiding officer nominated Trayvon for chair; Trayvon said he accepted the nomination. After a second, the commission voted, with multiple commissioners saying “I” and one member recorded as dissenting. The motion carried and Trayvon will serve as chair beginning at the next meeting.
For vice chair, Brenda was nominated but declined. Andrina accepted a later nomination and, after a second, was elected vice chair. The commission recorded the vote as passing.
The commission also debated an agenda item to expand regular meeting time by one hour. Commissioner Negret introduced the proposal and emphasized that receiving presentations in advance would let commissioners submit questions and reduce the need for longer meetings. Staff noted the commission’s bylaws currently set a two-hour limit and recommended reviewing the bylaws before any change. After discussion, a motion to table the item to the next meeting carried unanimously.
The commission approved meeting minutes early in the agenda and adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
What’s next: The new chair and vice chair will assume their roles for upcoming agendas. The meeting-length proposal was tabled for follow-up at the next commission meeting.
