Best You Coalition outlines free family game night and monthly parent cafes in Keokuk

Keokuk — Amanda Rogers, representing the Best You Coalition, used the Feb. 6 Keokuk City Council meeting to promote two upcoming community events and to report rising youth engagement.
Rogers said a free family game night will be held at the YMCA in Keokuk from 5:30–7 p.m., featuring inflatables, board games, food and an esports Nintendo Switch competition run by the Keokuk High School esports team. The coalition also will launch monthly parent cafes (facilitated small-group conversations with dinner and childcare), beginning Feb. 27 at the old Wells Cary School building with dinner at 4:30 p.m. and the program from 5:00–6:30 p.m.; registration is requested to help ensure adequate food and childcare.
Rogers noted high participation in youth groups this year (about 25 middle-school participants each week) and that students from Lee County were attending a national youth leadership forum in Washington, D.C. She encouraged the community to follow the coalition's Facebook page for updates and photos.
Council members thanked Rogers for the update. The events are free and open to families.
