Subcommittee approves routine contracts, park lighting and HVAC maintenance; construction manager outlines FY26 road work

The motion was moved by Alderman Newsome, seconded by Alderman Donnewald and passed by roll call.
Item B approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Waukegan Park District to install one additional light at Yeoman Park. The city will purchase and install the light at a cost of $558; the park district will maintain the new fixture and pay the electric bills. The motion was moved and carried unanimously.
Item C approved a contract with Air Comfort for HVAC preventative maintenance and emergency repairs via Lake County joint purchasing, with not-to-exceed amounts of $25,000 for the remainder of FY26 and $65,000 for FY27. Committee members recorded unanimous support.
During the meeting, construction manager Marvin Coleman presented a continuation of the FY26 road program, listing streets scheduled for work (including 6th Street, Baldwin Avenue, Brookside, Cornelia, Fulton, Lewis Avenue, Jenkinson Court, Lenox Avenue, May Street and Helmholtz) and describing first-lift paving, manhole/valve ramping, ADA ramps and sidewalk improvements. Coleman said the program is expected to wrap up by the end of April, weather permitting, and confirmed curb cuts and sidewalk work on Lewis Avenue are scheduled to begin as weather permits.
What happens next: staff will implement awarded services and begin the road program work as weather allows. The committee adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
