Selectmen approve town-clerk hire and new ethics-board member

The Board of Selectmen on March 17 approved two personnel actions: the full-time hire of John Amarillios as assistant to the town clerk and the appointment of John Braden (Esq.) to the town's ethics committee for a three-year term ending Dec. 1, 2027.
Claudia Weber, the town clerk, described Amarillios's background in election work and real-estate law and said he began with the town in 2017, serving in registrar roles before joining the town clerk's office. "John's knowledge of elections and procedures will be a great asset to the office," Claudia said.
John Braden (appearing online) said he is an in-house employment attorney who moved to New Canaan in 2020 and was seeking an opportunity to serve on a town board. The board approved both personnel items unanimously.
Claudia said the town clerk's office still needs to fill a separate part-time position and will post that vacancy soon. The hires and appointment take effect immediately.
