The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved awarding a contract to Stumpers LLC (doing business as Restore) for $443,446 to reconstruct existing sidewalks on Butler Lane, Danvers Lane and Whiffle Tree Lane, plus a 10% contingency of $44,500 for a total of $487,946.
Tiger, presenting the Department of Public Works bid summary, said the bids ranged from about $443,000 to $730,000 and that Stumpers had performed well on a prior nearby job. "We received seven bids ... Stumpers LLC ... came in at $443,446," Tiger said, and noted residents were satisfied with the contractor's prior work on Putinham.
The project covers reconstruction (no new sidewalk installation) and is funded from the sidewalk capital account. The contract includes a schedule requiring substantial completion before the start of school; the town said it will coordinate closely with the contractor and residents to manage driveway tie-ins and staging.
The board approved the contract and contingency unanimously. Procurement staff will set a start date in coordination with the contractor and issue notices to affected residents.
