The Springettsbury Township Board voted to authorize advertising an ordinance that would prohibit parking on the west side of Northern Way between Industrial Highway and Concord Road.
A supervisor said the west side of Northern Way—near the Sam’s Club curve—has become a hazardous location because large parked tractor-trailers restrict sightlines and vehicle movement. “It looks like an accident waiting to happen,” the speaker said when moving the authorization to advertise the ordinance.
The action at the meeting was authorization only to advertise the proposed ordinance; the board did not adopt the parking ban at this session. Advertising allows the township to schedule the ordinance for future consideration after public notice and any required hearings.
No public comments on the parking proposal were recorded during the meeting. The board did not specify an ordinance number beyond the authorization to advertise.
