School District 60 approved for two-year downtown parking permits in Lot F

The Waukegan Community Development Committee on March 2 approved a two-year license agreement permitting School District 60 to use monthly parking permits in downtown Lot F (300 South Sheridan).
City staff told the committee the district previously relied on a privately owned lot near its facility; that lot is now for sale, creating uncertainty about the lease. The license agreement would allow the district to place staff closer to their building and register license plates in the city’s parking system. City parking and police traffic staff told the committee they do not anticipate capacity problems in Lot F under the agreement.
"This parking lot does get very full," Deputy Superintendent Leberon Motton said, describing demand near the district building and confirming the district is exploring long-term options while the two-year agreement runs. City staff described the arrangement as temporary and said the district would continue looking for a permanent parking solution.
Alderwoman Bolton moved the resolution; Alderman Martinez seconded. A roll-call vote recorded all committee members in favor and the motion carried.
City staff said follow-up steps include coordinating permit registration and monitoring Lot F for conflicts during the agreement period. The resolution passed in committee and staff indicated they will proceed with implementation tasks described on the record.
