Committee endorses SCR 94 to recognize Waikiki as a world surfing reserve

The Culture and the Arts Committee voted to pass Senate Concurrent Resolution 94 endorsing Waikiki as a world surfing reserve.
Dolan Eversole of the University of Hawaii told the committee he would "stand on our written testimony in support" of SCR 94 and offered to answer questions. The Waikiki Beach Improvement District Association was also listed as a supporter, with Rick Egged identified on the testifier list.
Chair and vice chair recorded their votes in favor; Representative Garrett was marked excused. Representatives Lee, Sayama and Loeden voted yes and the chair's recommendation to pass the resolution "as is" was adopted.
The committee took no amendments or substantive changes during the discussion and moved to the next agenda item after the vote.
