Board accepts Aliv Foundation donation of AED for Bane Park; city to assume maintenance

The Brainerd City Park and Recreation Board voted to accept an automated external defibrillator (AED) donated by the Aliv Foundation for Bane Park and approved its installation.
Jesse, a park staff member, said the foundation would purchase and install the AED and that the city would assume ownership and ongoing maintenance after installation. Jesse and board members confirmed the city’s recreation specialist performs monthly checks on AEDs in city parks and that other parks (including Gregory Park and possibly Memorial Park) already have devices.
A motion to accept the donation and install the AED was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members emphasized the life‑saving potential of AEDs and discussed the need for an internal maintenance schedule and responsible staff coverage. Staff will finalize placement at Bane Park and incorporate the device into the city’s equipment maintenance program.
