Hamilton County Schools honors state wrestling champions and names county Teachers of the Year

Hamilton County Schools used part of its board meeting to recognize student athletic achievements and to present county Teachers of the Year awards.
Superintendent Dr. Robertson and board members praised the district’s student athletes after five wrestlers from the district won state championships across multiple weight classes. The board invited athletes and coaches to the dais for photos and applause.
The district also presented its county Teachers of the Year honors. Principals introduced awardees and described their classroom practices. Dr. Ashley Wilson introduced Julie Weisggerber as "a teacher who teaches bell‑to‑bell" and praised her advocacy for students. Dr. Joe Gresen and other principals highlighted honorees’ contributions to student learning and mentorship. Partners including Bowers Automotive Group, Chattanooga Area Schools Federal Credit Union, Tennessee Valley Robotics and the Hamilton County Schools Foundation gave cash and other support for the awards.
Students and community members praised their teachers during remarks; one student said the honoree "built people" and helped them find career pathways. The board and superintendent thanked partners and encouraged continued community support for teaching and student opportunities.
