Planefield police say search for missing 19-year-old Connor Oldfield continues daily with multiagency support

Planefield — The Planefield Police Department told the council it has made the search for 19-year-old Connor Oldfield the department's top priority and has mobilized daily resources across agencies after his reported disappearance on Jan. 24 around 3:30 p.m.
Police Director said the department "suspended all operations of the detective bureau" to search for Connor and has coordinated with Planefield Fire, Planefield OEM, Union County OEM, the State Police, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and other state and federal resources. Officers have conducted grid searches, door-to-door inquiries and have followed every lead, and the department has kept Connor’s parents regularly informed, the director said.
Police urged residents who want to help to assist in structured ways — for example, staying with organized door-to-door canvasses — and cautioned the public against hazardous, untrained searches in extreme winter weather that could cause additional safety incidents and divert resources. The department also said flyers have been distributed and it is investigating tips as they come in.
Multiple callers during the public-comment period asked for clearer public updates; residents called for a town-hall-style briefing so community volunteers can be organized safely. Council members and staff signaled support for such outreach; police and city staff agreed to consider a town hall and to continue daily updates to the family and the public as appropriate.
The department did not disclose detailed operational tactics or ongoing investigatory specifics at the meeting but reiterated that the search remains active and resources will continue to be dedicated until Connor is located.
