High school roof project: mold testing, ceiling work and summer schedule outlined

A mold and air-quality test was scheduled for April 20 at 9:00 a.m. in areas of concern; staff said testing could affect scope if remediation is required. The contractor provided two ceiling options (take down and reinstall vs. full replacement) and both came in near a $300,000 budget line that the district has set aside for ceilings.
Committee members discussed salvaging ceiling tiles that are undamaged for reuse in other schools, estimating up to roughly 60% could be reused, and asked staff to coordinate a plan for inventorying reusable tiles before contractor demolition. Members emphasized the priority of having classrooms and essential systems restored and '"buttoned up"'before school opens, while noting some exterior trim and final punch-list items may extend into the fall.
Staff also reported that some inoperable rooftop equipment will be removed and staged so subsequent roofing crews can work efficiently and that some milestones in contractor documents appeared to contain a date typo (June/July). The subcommittee asked staff to include milestone and mold-test results in the next facilities update.
