Member Linda Daley moved to amend the FY2026 budget to appropriate $215,000 from the long‑term care services fund to serve as the source of funds to pay a settlement. Heather McCord told the board the county ran a cash‑flow analysis and that withdrawing the $215,000 would not jeopardize the board’s plan to pay off $11 million in bonds by 2032. "In fact, there'll still be an estimated $700,000 in a surplus at the end," McCord said. The board approved the amended item; the meeting display recorded the vote as 17 ayes, 0 nays on the amended motion.
Motor fuel tax item and abstentions
Item 8.13 was pulled from consent for clarification. Legal counsel Jennie Cordis Boswell explained that road commissioners may abstain on motor fuel tax votes because the subject can fall within their statutory responsibilities; she described the discussion as procedural. The item passed with 14 ayes and two abstentions.
Zoning approvals and land sale
The board approved zoning case ZBA 2026‑00006, a special‑use request for a solar energy generation facility proposed by Chabertton Solar Cica LLC near Dietrich Lane behind Oak Grove West and Limestone High School; Andrew Braun said earlier opposition had been addressed and recommended approval; the vote was recorded as 15 ayes.
The board also approved ZBA 2025‑00008, a petitioner request by David Herman to modify a prior special use to expand a major home occupation (proposing up to three nonresident employees and a new 8,791‑square‑foot accessory structure rather than the 1,000‑square‑foot standard); the board approved the modification (vote recorded as 16 ayes).
