Seaford board honors 44 all‑county artists and musicians; wrestling team praised after strong season

The board session opened with student presentations and recognitions. Student reporter Matt Hines updated the board on AP Research presentations and science fair competition entries, described a middle‑school pickleball fundraiser that raised over $600 for the John Bon Children's Foundation, and previewed upcoming STEAM Night and state assessments.

Dr. Kennedy, the district fine and applied arts coordinator, introduced recognition of 44 students named all‑county in visual arts and music and thanked teachers and administrators for their support. Students from the high school, middle school and elementary schools were called to the stage to receive certificates; families and music faculty were publicly thanked. "These students continually go above and beyond their commitment to their craft," Dr. Kennedy said as the board recognized student artists and musicians.

The athletics director (Mr. Whit) and coaches then recognized the wrestling program’s 2025–26 accomplishments, including a 4–0 league record, a 13–8 overall season, 12 all‑county wrestlers, two all‑state wrestlers and seven state qualifiers (the most in New York State for the season, according to the coach). Coach Dave highlighted individual county champions and noted scholar‑athlete team recognition. "We set the record for the highest amount of points scored in the Division 2 individual tournament," Coach Dave said, noting multiple wrestlers who will advance to state competition.
