The Sacramento City Council convened a special meeting at 1:01 p.m. and adjourned into closed session to discuss labor negotiations and pending litigation, the Clerk said.
The Clerk announced the first closed-session item was a conference with labor negotiators under Government Code section 54957.6. The Clerk named designated representatives Lainey Milstein, Aaron Donato and Tim Davis and read a roster of employee organizations involved in the talks, including the Sacramento City Exempt Employees Association; Sacramento Police Officers Association; International Union of Operating Engineers (Stationary Engineers Local 39); Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522; Sacramento Sierra Building and Construction Trades Council; Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 447; Auto, Marine and Specialty Painters Local 1176; Western Council of Engineers; and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
The Clerk identified the second closed-session item as a conference with legal counsel regarding existing litigation under Government Code section 54956.9(d)(1), naming the matter as Rodriguez et al. v. City of Sacramento, Sacramento County Superior Court, case number 23CV001023.
The Clerk noted there were no public speakers on the closed-session items and that a quorum of council members was present, then addressed the vice mayor to proceed to closed session. No public votes or deliberations on the substantive issues were recorded in the public portion of the meeting.
