Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth, Senate members and school leaders praised the players and coaches for athletic achievement and sportsmanship, and Secretary Patrick Harris signed the resolution for inclusion in the Senate archives.
Winona’s coaching staff, led by co‑head coach Cedric Lane, and school principal Goldmith joined the delegation on the Senate floor to accept the chamber’s commendation. Senators said they would provide framed copies of the resolution to players, staff and administrators as a permanent record of the championship.
The resolution notes the team’s performance set records for scoring in a title game and recognized the broader community that supported the season. The Senate did not take legislative action tied to the recognition; the resolution enters the official legislative history and copies will be distributed to the school.
