Tempe board recognizes new administrators, distributes STEM kits and awards

The Tempe Elementary School District governing board recognized several newly approved administrators and highlighted district programs and recognitions during its meeting.
Chief Operating Officer and Assistant Superintendent Mike Mingini introduced newly approved project managers Karen Brooks (mathematics), Christine Dabono (project manager), Carrie Hatos (literacy project manager), and Carrie Zitar (project manager, math). Their qualifications and experience were summarized for trustees.
The board also approved Jackie Bcott as principal for Immersive 9; Bcott thanked the board and families, saying she was "very honored to lead this amazing campus." Several board members welcomed the new administrators.
Superintendent Dr. Driscoll reported the district distributed more than 350 at‑home STEM kits at Scales Technology Academy with funding from the Toyota Driving Possibilities Grant. Dr. Driscoll also announced that Spali Elementary and Nevett Elementary were named Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase Schools and described a Native American program drum‑making class held in partnership with the Phoenix Indian Center.
These recognitions and appointments were presented without opposition and do not require further board action beyond implementation and placement of the new hires.
