The Manhattan School Board on March 10 approved a broad set of personnel recommendations for the 2026–27 school year, including certified teacher hires, multiple coaching contracts and several support positions.
Administrators read brief interview summaries and references for candidates. Among the approvals were a recommended high-school English hire (Julia Vita) returning to Manhattan High School as well as music, CTE and elementary hires. The board also confirmed head and assistant coaches across varsity and junior-high programs and approved a new kitchen manager and a part-time food service clerk to support the district’s move toward scratch/local-produce meal partnerships.
Administrators noted several candidates were first-year teachers or early-career educators and described mentor-pairing and curriculum resources the district is deploying to support new staff. The district said it is investing in curriculum adoptions and mentor programs to reduce implementation risk for many hires.
Board members praised the candidates’ references and interview performance. “We invested in curriculum and mentor pairing so new teachers have support,” one administrator said during the discussion. The approvals were handled as a series of motions and carried by voice vote.
