Board appoints Jamie Heaps to fill trustee vacancy

The Manhattan School Board on March 10 appointed Jamie Heaps to fill a trustee vacancy, seating Heaps through May 2027.
Board members said they reviewed three letters of interest and discussed the process for filling the opening. A motion to appoint Jamie Heaps was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. Deputy Dan administered the oath and Heaps signed documents to assume the seat.
“I’m excited about the opportunity and really appreciate your vote to approve me,” Jamie Heaps said after being sworn in.
Board members noted the appointee will have to stand for the May election if they seek a full three-year term. The appointment completes the board roster for the remainder of the meeting; the district clerk retained copies of the appointment paperwork.
