The Saginaw Planning & Zoning Commission on Monday recommended that philanthropic and charitable uses be added to the city's permitted-use table for light industrial property, but only if applicants return to the commission and city council for a specific-use permit.
Staff framed the proposal as a narrow text amendment to the permitted-use table to accommodate nonprofits that seek warehouse or suite space in the clinic/medical overlay and elsewhere in LI. City staff said the ordinance change could be made in several ways, and recommended an SUP so the commission and council retain oversight over operations, parking and neighborhood impacts.
