Indian Creek board recognizes FFA teams and Education Foundation announces grants

The Indian Creek Schools board paused its business to recognize students and programs that recently competed and earned state honors. The senior chapter meeting team placed third in the state and will be recognized at the state convention in June. Team members and roles named by the board included Alana Kephart (president), Hannah Sammons (vice president), Brooke Setzer (secretary), Bella Pettycourt (reporter/treasurer noted), Rylee Cates (reporter), Reagan Ferris (sentinel), and advisor Aliana Cole (absent).
The meats evaluation team placed second in state competition, with individual placings highlighted: Reagan Ferris (individual reserve champion), Lexi Hester (ninth) and Luke Hester (19th). The second-place team will attend the National Western Stock Show in Denver.
An Education Foundation representative reported that the recent "Princess and Knights" fundraiser drew more than 300 participants and raised $4,100 for the foundation. The foundation announced two new grants since the last board meeting: $6,000 from the Dawson County Community Foundation and $4,600 from donor Andrew Hauser; scholarship application review is scheduled for May 3, with awards to be presented at senior night later in May.
Board members repeatedly thanked teachers, support staff, volunteers and parents for their role in student programs and encouraged students and staff to finish the school year strong.
What happens next The recognized teams will receive formal recognition at upcoming events (state convention in June; National Western Stock Show). The Education Foundation will proceed with scholarship review on May 3 and award scholarships at senior night later in May.
