Red Bank reports Jake Law grant acceptance for Marine Park project, award contingent on state appropriation

Speaking near the end of the meeting, the borough manager (Jim) said the Jake Law application had cleared internal review and been put forward by Green Acres for legislative consideration. He cautioned that the award remains contingent on the state appropriation process. “We did get the official notice for the Jake Law application being accepted by Green Acres for the $750,000,” he told the council.
Council members celebrated the milestone while noting the procedural contingency: the grant is advanced but still needs the legislative appropriation before funds are released. Earlier in the meeting councilors and the CFO had discussed combining the Jake Law award with an Open Space grant to fund components of Marine Park’s capital work and playground improvements, which would reduce the borough’s borrowing needs if fully awarded and appropriated.
