The Morris City Council approved two grant agreements to support airport improvements: replacement of the FBO hangar door and purchase of a Jet A fuel truck. City manager Shrup told the council both projects are being pursued as 60/40 grants, with the city's 40 percent share expected to come from donations. The new engineer was credited with pursuing the funding opportunities.
During discussion, council members encouraged staff to seek bids from local firms where competitive and feasible to support local employment. One council member asked whether the fuel truck procurement had been bid; staff said the current figures were estimates and that vendor quotes and competitive processes would follow. The council also confirmed a contact list for state and FAA communications would be updated as interim staff changes occur.
A roll call vote approved the resolution to accept the state airport fund grant agreements for both the FBO hangar door and the Jet A fuel truck.
What's next: Staff will pursue the procurement process, refine cost estimates and update the listed contact for state grant administrators when interim staffing changes are finalized.
