Darren told the council the preliminary budget prepared by department heads and staff — with special thanks to Holly — had been attached to the meeting agenda. “It was a lot of work. We got through it. We’re pretty proud of where we’re at,” Darren said, noting the city has been running budget workshops and attending related meetings as it develops the plan.
Several councilmembers offered brief reports. Joseph praised the proactive planning by department heads and noted staff had set aside money for large upcoming projects; he also thanked Rick for recent weather and water analysis work. Other members registered no report or offered brief remarks, and a member cautioned residents to watch for trucks during ongoing roadwork.
What’s next: staff will continue the budget process through the workshops and deliver requested follow-up materials to the council as the city moves toward adoption later in the budget cycle.
