Supervisors reviewed firm bids to repaint the metal exterior of the county-owned VA building, which houses several county and service offices. Bids read aloud were Sweet Life Painting ($4,270), Tompkins Painting ($6,980.15) and Gator Renovations ($8,250).
A supervisor moved to accept the low, responsive bid from Sweet Life Painting; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff will coordinate with the contractor on paint samples and schedule. The scope discussed included power washing, wire brushing, application of a metal-bonding primer and a premium metal paint finish.
County staff noted the building is metal and previously served different uses; the VA building also houses DHS services. Board members asked for paint sample options to avoid the current yellow color and to ensure a finish appropriate to the building and setting.
