Hep Patel, a presenter from Raleigh's Transportation Department, told the City Council work session that staff's Major Investment Study for the Northern Corridor identifies two distinct BRT corridors (Downtown'Midtown and Downtown'Triangle Town Center) and that staff are recommending alignment six for Midtown and alignment three for Triangle Town Center.
Patel said the study evaluated alignments through a fatal-flaw and detailed screening (right-of-way, intersection geometry, railroad crossings, traffic operations), public engagement (fall 2023 and fall 2025) and ridership modeling using the federal STOPS methodology. "We are not asking you to pick one over the other. We are implementing both corridors through the Wake Transit plan," Patel said.
