Wyoming swears in Jack Breitbach as police sergeant

The City Council of Wyoming, Minnesota, on Aug. 6 held a ceremony to swear in Officer Jack Breitbach as a sergeant with the Wyoming Police Department. Mayor Iverson and council members attended the ceremony, which the city said will take effect Aug. 11, 2025.
Mr. Lynwood formally introduced Breitbach to the council and the public, saying Breitbach will oversee patrol, coordinate training initiatives and ‘‘continue to build strong ties between the department and the community.’’ He said the promotion follows the retirement of Sergeant Lance Beardsley.
Mr. Lynwood read a statement from Police Chief Bower, saying, "I have full confidence in Jack's ability to lead with our department. His calm judgment, high integrity, and passion for the community make him an excellent fit for the position." According to Mr. Lynwood, the selection process included a written scenario exercise to test supervisory judgment, interviews with city administration and the chief of the North Branch Police Department, and a panel interview with community stakeholders including representatives from the Lake Center for Youth and Families, a county outreach coordinator and three members of the Wyoming Multicultural Advisory Committee. Mr. Lynwood said Breitbach earned unanimous recommendations through that process.
Mayor Iverson invited Breitbach forward to take the oath of office. Meeting leaders recited the oath to support the Constitution and to discharge faithfully the duties for the City of Wyoming; family members then joined for the badge pinning and the assembled attendees applauded.
The council did not record a formal roll-call vote during the ceremony. City officials listed Aug. 11, 2025, as the effective date of the promotion. No other personnel actions were taken during this portion of the meeting.
